My debut historical fiction novel

     Imagine being a child growing up in the beautiful Georgia mountains in the early 1800s. Fresh air, your family and friends are surrounding you at all times. You live at peace with nature and feel a calm within yourself. Your best friend digs you out when you get into trouble, stands with you when you cannot stand alone. Falling in love, growing and learning that your very culture is evolving into something bigger than yourself.

     Life is good ... most of the time. 

    Then you become old enough to realize that there are people out there who want to take everything away from you - your home and even the ground under your home - and they don't care how you feel about it, much less care where you'll live once they've taken your life away from you.

     Imagine being forced into making the decision of whether to follow your heart and save your own life - or to remain loyal to your family, knowing that in doing so, you could lose not only your true love, but your life as well. 

     Welcome to the life of a young Cherokee girl named Rain as she grows into maturity just as The Trail of Tears begins.
